"Gesture" vase/centerpiece
Gesture is a table centerpiece for homes and restaurants that combines a flower vase and condiment shakers into one form evocative of a hand delicately presenting a flower. The base has a hollow basin for the water reservoir, upon which a removable tray sits. The tray, angled 15 degrees, holds four glass condiment shakers held in place by a small lip around the base of the tray. The shakers conform to a curved shaft that encloses the stem of the flower, then they bend outward like fingers. The shakers may rest on the table--their bases are asymmetrically weighted for balance--but the form encourages diners to place them back on to the piece and restore unity. Gesture both minimizes the usage of table space required by the disparate elements and suggests through its form the simplicity and intimacy of the act of dining.
